Obituary of Barbara Ann Carpenter

With sorrow we announce the passing of Barbara Ann Carpenter (Baxter), she was 80 years old. Barbara passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 27th in the loving arms of her daughters. Barbara was born in Walton, NY on July 23, 1945, to Rudolph and Dorothy Baxter, the second of six children. Barbara was loved by all that had the pleasure of her grace. She had a powerful love for family and especially her eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Barb was known to welcome everyone into her home with open arms. She was quick to celebrate any and all occasions and could give one of the best hugs you can imagine. A great cook, avid music lover (especially Elvis), M&M’s distributor (ha-ha), old bottle digger, coin collector and SKIP-BO world champion. Barbara is survived by her brothers and sisters: Ted Baxter and wife Dawn of Endicott, NY; Danny Baxter and wife Patty of Jacksonville, FL; Donna Glasner and husband Bud of Jacksonville, FL, Debra Baxter of Preston Hollow, NY and David Baxter and wife Tena of Castle Creek, NY.Her children: Michael Palmatier and wife Selena of Kingfield, ME, Michelle Palmatier DeMeo of Oneonta, NY, and Renae Ruff and husband Jason of Oxford, NY.Her grandchildren: Tyler Palmatier, Trevor Palmatier, Tanner Palmatier, Troy Palmatier, Jacob Ruff, Jadyn Ruff, Mark DeMeo and Kane DeMeo. Her great grandchildren: Coralie Palmatier, Cleo Palmatier, Orion Palmatier and Georgia Palmatier. As well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara is predeceased by her parents Rudolph and Dorothy Baxter. Calling hours will be held at the Courtney Funeral home Wednesday September 3, 2025, at 10am-11am, with service at 11am with pastor Christine Lindeburg officiating. Immediately following the service, the burial will take place at the Walton Cemetery located at 55 Fancher Ave, Walton NY 13856. The family would like to invite family and friends to join them for a celebration of life following at the American Legion in Sidney, NY located at 22 Union St, Sidney, NY 13838.
