Laura Jean Komorowski, 79, of Unadilla, NY, passed away peacefully on the 4th of August 2025 at her home surrounded by loved ones.

Laura Jean was born in Yonkers, NY to Carl M. Baumgardner and Isabelle Smith on September 7, 1945. She attended Earl L. Vandermeulen High School in Port Jefferson, NY, and graduated in 1963. She went on to earn her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education at State University College at Oneonta, NY in 1967 where she was active in the Womens' Glee Club and Arethusa Sorority.

She taught elementary school in the Sidney Central School District from 1968 through 2002, which included teaching Kindergarten in Masonville. Laura Jean so much enjoyed teaching and filled her classrooms with joy, song, and love. Growing up on Long Island, she had a lifelong love of the ocean. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and fishing with her husband. She created decorations for all seasons to brighten her home, inside and out.

Laura Jean is survived by her loving husband, Lee Komorowski, Unadilla, NY and daughter Stef Komorowski (Monica Briggs) of Boston, MA; cousins Nancy Bent, Nokomis, FL; Audrey Klimbach (John), Englewood FL; Kaitlyn Domenge (Luis), Peachtree Corners, GA.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Foxcare Infusion Center in Oneonta, NY and to the hospice staff at Helios Care, Oneonta, NY.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, August 14th from 5 pm – 7 pm followed by a Time of Remembrance Service at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel at 21 Main Street, Sidney, NY.
