SIDNEY – Ernest Jay Beach died at home on Saturday, July 5, 2025. He was born November 22, 1953 to Mahlon and Betty Beach of Masonville. Ernie grew up on the family dairy farm on Parker Hollow Road with his parents and nine brothers and sisters. After finishing school, he worked on several different farms in Delaware County, milking cows and plowing fields. He spent most of his working years self-employed, working in the woods, logging and selling firewood. He loved being outdoors, hunting and fishing and being close to nature. He always had a nice garden, enjoyed canning vegetables and making good pickles. Country music was big in his family and he played guitar and fiddle. He could play several old-time fiddle tunes he learned from his dad. He loved to have friends and family social gatherings and jam sessions. All who knew him and loved him will remember him for his joyful and lighthearted disposition.

Besides his parents, Ernie was predeceased by his sister Thelma Shedd and brother Nelson Beach.

Ernie is survived by his son Ernest Beach, Jr., his wife Brandi and two granddaughters Victoria and Ella; brothers Ed (Sheree) Beach, Russell Beach, Mahlon, Jr. (Ellen) Beach, and Martin (Jennifer) Beach; and sisters Roberta (David) Owens, Kathryn deVries and Marian (Leland) Ploutz. Ernie is also survived by his Aunt Ruth Butts and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care of C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, Sidney, NY. There will be no service or calling hours. A celebration of Ernie's life will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 12:00-2:00pm at the Sidney American Legion, 22 Union Street, Sidney, NY 13838.
