Obituary of Ramona J. Ingham
Please share a memory of Ramona to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ramona Jean (Baldwin) Ingham, 82, passed away peacefully in her home, with loving family by her side, on June 2, 2025 . Born June 26, 1942 in Sidney, NY to the late Leroy and Marjorie (Schlafer) Baldwin, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles W. Ingham, on May 6, 1961.
Mona was a bank teller and stay-at-home Mom before becoming an aide at Guilford Elementary. At the request of her friend and colleague, Mary Ellen Parsons, Mona learned braille. She became a certified braille transcriber and embarked on a rewarding 31 year career. Most of her career was as a one-on-one aide for blind students in public school. She was aide and friend to Scott Parsons from his first-grade year through to his graduation from B-G. Mona was even given an honorary diploma for her "second" education, alongside her student and daughter. Mona truly enjoyed being around the students and was adored not only by her blind students, but also their peers. Her bright smile and laughter were appreciated by her colleagues and friends. Laughing until they had tears was a common occurrence when gathered!
Well known for her excellent baking, she could often be found in her kitchen while watching the backyard or visiting with family and friends. Coffee and dessert were always readily available to anyone who stopped by. Mona was fortunate to inherit her parents' musical talents and played piano and accordion by ear. She had an innate ability to play along to her favorite country songs, as well as playing old time music that she had learned from her parents. She also grew to enjoy bluegrass music, especially "her boys", The Gibson Brothers.
Wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mona loved her family beyond measure. Even after 64 years of marriage, Charlie still called her his bride. Together they raised three children, and spent as much time as they could with their seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Mona remained close to her six siblings and enjoyed big family gatherings.
Mona is survived by her devoted husband, Charles W. Ingham, son William (Bobbie), daughter Shelly DuMond (Steven), daughter Jamie Parker (Shane), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brother Bill Baldwin, sister Kathy Miller (Dave), and sister Bonnie Wright (Rodney), plus many loving nieces, nephews and in-laws. She is predeceased by her parents, Leroy and Marjorie (Schlafer) Baldwin, brother Murray Baldwin and wife Marty, brother Dale Baldwin, brother Joe Baldwin, and brother Ed Baldwin.
We would like to thank all of our family and friends that helped to keep Mona at home, and especially those that helped the last few days of her life.
