Obituary of Patricia A. Grays

Patricia A. Grays, 83 of Sidney, NY passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 with family by her side. She was born February 10, 1942, in Auburn NY to the late G. Alan Ward and Edna (Dubois) Ward. Pat graduated from Moravia Central School in 1960. She married the love of her life, George Grays September 3, 1960, in Moravia, NY. Pat worked for Smith Corona in Cortland NY before starting her family. She had her own laundry service as well. Pat worked for Tri- Town News, ran her own daycare for several years and was a foster parent for over 20 years for Delaware County. Once all her children went to school, she began working at Sidney Central School where she worked for 20 years. She looked forward to going to work every day and helping the students in the math lab. Pat always enjoyed seeing and catching up with her former students. After Pat's retirement, she donated her time to the Office of the Aging, Legacy Corps of Delaware County, caring for several elderly people in her community. Helping others truly brought her joy. She was a Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout Leader of Troop #268, member of the Delaware County ARC Board, Sidney Republican Committee and Legacy Corps. She was a poll worker for voting, and she was on the board of other committees and organizations. Pat is survived by her brother Keith (Maryann) Ward, her children: Alana (Dennis) Bailey, Cheryl (Steve) Boyd, Anita Grays, Lanette Grays-Williams, Cindy Grays, Jerry Grays, Matthew Grays. She has 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Pat was predeceased by her parents G. Alan & Edna Ward, brothers Garth & Paul Ward, sister Sharon Harris and her loving husband George Grays. Pat enjoyed spending time with her family and all her friends. She enjoyed going to ceramics, bird watching, sewing, gardening, quilting, spending time at her family camp in the 1000 Islands, and sharing her love for baking and sewing with others. Pat was known for her Chex mix, chocolate chip cookies, and Apple Dapple cake. Pat has been very blessed to have so many close friends and family assisting her. The family would like to give a special thanks to "Gigi's girls" for the love and compassionate care given to her in her home. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday May 28th from 5-7pm and funeral services will be Thursday May 29th at 11am at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Donations may be made in Pat's memory to The Majors Inn, Gilbertsville NY or The Legacy Corps of Delaware County.
