Obituary of Helen I. Rockefeller
Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Helen I. Rockefeller died May 6, 2025 at the age of 98. She was born to Elizabeth and Roy Hart in Binghamton, NY on Christmas day 1926. While growing up, her parents frequently moved the family around the area, wherever her dad could find work in several different farming, logging and quarry jobs to support the family through the depression years. Helen lived most of her life in Sidney with her second husband Floyd Rockefeller and retired from the Scintilla, later known as Amphenol in Sidney where she worked for 35 years. She and her husband both enjoyed traveling, especially fishing trips to Maine and the Adirondacks and also a nice Alaskan cruise. Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sidney. In 2007, she moved to North Syracuse with her sister Mary to be closer to her son and grandchildren. She spent most of her later years watching old Westerns on TV and caring for her house plants. When the weather was warmer, she enjoyed being outside working in her flower beds and watching the birds and feeding the ducks that came to the back yard. She enjoyed visiting with the neighbors and loved visits and phone calls from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her son David (Bobbie) Owens; grandchildren Tresia Easterly, Patricia (Dan) Giovannini, Susan (John) Kimball and Deanna (Tom) Doak; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by her first husband William Owens, her second husband Floyd Rockefeller, her sister Mary Hart, and brother Arthur Hart.
