Obituary of Judith M. Maines

Judith Marie Maines passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on April 12, 2025. Judy had suffered gallantly for the past year with the monstrous disease of ALS. Judy was an exemplary nurse for many years at The Hospital in Sidney, NY, as well as a phenomenal wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was a member of the NYSOES for over 20 years, a member of the Sidney Fire Department Ladies Auxilliary, and a devout Christian for her entire life. Judy was predeceased by her parents, John and Madelyn Kean; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl Maines and Lillian Jury; her sister, Caroll Blakeslee; her brother-in-law, George Wambolt; and her grandson, Bradley Sutliff. Judy is survived by her adoring husband of over 50 years, Charles Maines; her son, David (Michelle) Stewart; her son, Bryan (Jean) Stewart; her daughter, Jamie (Paul) Sutliff, and her daughter, Dorian Stewart. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, William Maines; her brother-in-law, Douglas Blakeslee; and her beautiful sister and best friend, Rose Wambolt; as well as her grandchildren, Andrew (Abbey) Stewart, Jeffrey Stewart, Chase Sutliff, Amber Sutliff, Joshua Winchester, Tanner Winchester; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, who adored her. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Sidney United Methodist Church, 12 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838. A memorial service will begin at 2:00pm at the church with Pastor Brandilynne Craver officiating. Burial services will be held at a later date.
