Gregory "Greg" Smith was called home to Heaven on March 20, 2025. Greg was a wonderful husband and father. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He was a deacon at his church, First Baptist of Afton New York where he served faithfully. Greg found great comfort in his faith and in knowing for sure that he would be meeting his Savior, Jesus Christ. He loved keeping in touch with the "senior saints" and sending birthday cards with a little "ice cream money" tucked inside.

Greg was born July 8, 1955 in Coatesville, PA. He was predeceased by his father, Howard Smith, his mother, Elaine Smith, and his brother, H. Wallace Smith. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jennifer L. Smith, and his son, Jeffrey P. Smith.

He attended Middle Tennessee State, where he was in the ROTC Program. He served in the Army as a Second Lieutenant. He spent one year in South Korea, "No more camping for me!"

Greg was employed as a case worker for Delaware County Social Service and Office of the Aging for over 20 years. In retirement, he loved riding the lawnmower, old movies, getting on Facebook, and playing computer games.

Family and friends may call Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the First Baptist Church, 30 Caswell St. Afton, NY. Calling hours will begin at 11:00am with a service to follow at 12:00noon. The service will be live streamed at www.fbc.org.

Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 1:00pm in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton, NY.
