Obituary of Laura L. Thompson

Laura L. Thompson, 83, died March 19, 2025. She was born July 12, 1941, in Masonville, New York, daughter of Walter and Alice (Scott) Lamoree. A resident of the Walton and Sidney area for most of her life, she worked as a waitress at local cafe's.
Laura met Ernest E. Thompson, and they were married on November 6, 1960. Together they raised a daughter, Marcie, and two boys, Dale and Bennett. Laura and Ernie ran the local American gas station together, and she also had her own taxi service in Bainbridge.
Her husband and children were her passion which included preparing for the local Demolition Derby's. The men would put the cars together and she would take meticulous care in painting and designing the cars, often winning best design. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Woman's Auxiliary and an active member of the Algonquin Antique Auto Club and enjoyed going to the many car shows.
She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Alice Lamoree, brothers Juddson and Francis Lamoree, and sister Amy Toner. Survivors include her husband Ernest Thompson, sons Dale (Penny), and Bennett (Peg) Thompson, Daughter Marcie Dumond (Brian) and her brother Wayne Lamoree. She has 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild with another on the way.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 26th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, NY. A memorial service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Masonville Cemetery, Masonville NY. There will be a reception following the burial at the Masonville Federated Church.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the Masonville Federated Church or a charity of one's choice.
