Obituary of Polly Stafford

Doreen E. "Polly" Stafford, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. Polly was born on June 11, 1937 in Kortright, NY, daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Evans) Dibble. On October 20, 1968, Polly was married George W. Stafford in Franklin, NY. For over 56 years, anyone who knew Polly knew that she and George were a team, a package deal. She was the owner of Polly's Place Craft Shop in Masonville, NY for several years. Polly was dedicated to her customers and found joy in the 'creating'. She was skilled at cross stitching, macrame, sewing, and plastic canvas. She also had a gift for arranging silk flowers, painstakingly assembling them piece by piece; even undertaking many weddings, baptisms, and celebratory events during her career. If someone came to her with an idea, she would find a way to execute their vision. Polly also loved animals; there was rarely a time during her life she didn't have a pet. She also enjoyed watching the birds at her feeders. She will be dearly missed by her husband, George Stafford of Mt. Upton; two sons, Francis E. Riddell, Jr. of Kapolei, Hawaii and Dennis R. Riddell, Sr. of Schenectady; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, as well as her "adopted son" and caregiver, Todd Chilcot. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Albert Dibble, and sister, Loie Bedford. Friends may call from 11:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Mt. Upton.
