Iola Colvin Obituary

Iola Colvin, 77, of Afton passed away on March 14, 2025 at Norwich Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.


Iola, the daughter of the late Harold & Waneita Mulwane was born on December 4, 1947.


She was predeceased by her husband LaVerne "Skip" Colvin, her older brother, Harold "Duck" Babcock, her twin sister Viola Schmitz, and her step-granddaughter, Shannon Colvin.

She is survived by her sister, Sherley Saunders, several nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grandchildren, and her dear friend Georgia Baker.


Iola never had children of her own, but she babysat and nurtured and guided numerous children in the Afton area. She loved to do puzzles and was always working on some type of crafting project. She was a friend to everyone she met and she will be dearly missed by many. She was a long time member of the North Afton United Methodist Church and was most recently attending the United Methodist Church of Unadilla.


A graveside burial service will be held on May 9, 2025 at 1pm at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge, NY.
