Please share a memory of Rosemary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rosemary Lynne Davis passed away on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2025, reuniting with both the Lord and her loved ones. She was born in Otego, New York on September 15th, 1942, living a full and vibrant life. One of her favorite ways to introduce herself to new people was to ask them to guess her career path – and few, if any, ever guessed that she drove 18-wheeler trucks for over four decades. It didn't ever cross her mind she couldn't be a truck driver. As a young nurse's aide working in a local hospital, she and her girlfriend would watch the trucks hauling dirt over a new stretch of highway being built near the hospital. Rosie had grown up on a farm and driven tractors, so why couldn't she drive a big rig? She and her coworker signed up for classes at the local driving school. She took three attempts to pass but made it all the same. Her career took her as far north as Alaska all the way down to Mexico. What she was most skilled at was backing the truck; her second husband, who shared the same career path, often stepped aside so she could back the truck up as often as she liked. Rosemary was well known for her warm and welcoming personality that everyone enjoyed. She had close relationships with her immediate and extended family, making time to see them whenever her career brought her east of the Mississippi. Her wit endeared her to those she loved and she always had a quick and clever response. One favorite example is how she described meeting her third husband while he worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart – she would give you that clever smile and mention that you can find anything at Wal-Mart. Many of the best stories of her wit are best shared in person, though. She was preceded in death by her mother Gertrude Harvey and father Stanley Harvey, her sister Dawn (Harvey) Sherman, her granddaughter Sonia Sherman, and her loving son Lynn Sherman, with whom she had shared a deep and meaningful relationship with. She is survived in life by her brother Melvin (Judy) Harvey, her daughter-in-law Candy Sherman, her niece Gail Feitsma who cared for her till the end of her days, many nieces and nephews, her three grandsons, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 305 Murray Hill Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
