Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas “Tom” Charles Platt, 61, of Sidney Center, passed away peacefully at his cabin on Wednesday, February 5th. Tom was born on July 12, 1963, in Oneonta, NY, to Charles W. Platt and Eva J. (Rake) Platt. He grew up on the family farm, where he learned the value of hard work. He graduated from Unatego High School in 1981 before attending SUNY Cobleskill and Clarkson, earning his business degree in 1985. After college, Tom served in the Army Reserve before starting his career. He spent many years working for ABF in New Jersey before returning to New York, where he found his calling in real estate. As an agent, Tom took pride in helping people find homes, building relationships, and becoming a trusted presence in the community. Outside of work, Tom loved the simple things that made life meaningful. He was a dedicated Giants and Yankees fan, enjoyed gardening, golfing, kayaking, and taking his four-wheeler out. He had a talent for grilling and was happiest sharing a good meal with family and friends. Tom is survived by his siblings: Kim Stilson of Schenevus, NY; Robin Platt of Portlandville, NY; Jacqueline Gascon and Rebecca Platt, both of Newtown, PA; and Timothy Platt of Port Royal, SC. He was a proud uncle to Chris and Ricky Franke of Seattle, WA; Brendon Heck and Serenity Combes of Portlandville, NY; Jessica Combes of Smithville Flats, NY; and Tracy Weimer of Schenevus, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, but his memory lives on. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Long River Inn in Unadilla, NY on Saturday, February 15th at 1:00 PM. This is an open event to all those that want to celebrate Tom. Arrangements are in the care of C.H. Landers Funeral Home, Sidney, NY.
