To The Entire Bailey Family, It is with great sadness that we express our sincerest sympathy for the passing of Larry. He was, and will continue to be, such an important part of our lives. Words can't express the love and appreciation we have for Larry's devotion to the Lord and his willingness to share that love, not only with us, but countless others. May the Lord keep you and comfort you ALL during this difficult time. May you also take comfort in knowing the hope we have in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With Love, from our family to yours. Mr. Bailey was my bus driver for around 13 yrs. I remember how tall he was. He had to bend his head down as he walked down the isle of the bus. If he stopped the bus you could hear everyone buckle their seatbelts and you knew someone had crossed a line. There were many of very cold and snowy days in the hills of Coventry where he had to get out and put the chains on the tires to get us all home safe. Our bus was the favorite bus bc Mr. Bailey ran a tight ship and you could actually sleep or walk down the isle. I will always remember when he got the Hawk radio station to come to Wicks farms and we sang She's In Love With A Boy by Trisha Yearwood. We practiced a lot on the bus and I think we even performed it at morning program. Mr. Bailey was always positive and greeted you with a smile. Even after I graduated and was home in the summer there was always a friendly wave. I am forever thankful that after my brother's sudden passing he was able to speak at his funeral. He was a wonderful whole hearted caring man that I am thankful to have known.

He was my children's bus driver who they adored. It was without a doubt the best bus run we were so lucky to have him. Then when my son had unexpectantly died he honored us by doing his memorial candle light service. He was a blessing at a very hard time. I know your home now and rest in peace. A very special man.

Mr. Bailey changed my life every day just by being himself, patient and loving to each kid on our school bus. He truly was one of the best people I’ve met in life… and even to only know him as a child I’m still grateful.

Larry Bailey was such comfort to us knowing our three children were safe and cherished as he drove them to school and back home again. And his friendship didn't end with the children Larry shared that with us parents. He was truly loved and appreciated in our household.

Mr. Bailey was the first person in Afton to truly make me feel welcome. I was privileged to have him as my bus driver. He was so kind to me every morning and afternoon. He talked to me with genuine interest. When my family moved to a different location in Afton and he was no longer my bus driver, he went out of his way to check in with me and acknowledge me for doing well in school. I appreciated him so much. He will be missed.

I shall never forget how kind Larry was in our years of interaction. With his weekly radio show on WCDO “Bible Truth” (recorded first on cassette then on CD) his pleasant Alabama-twang delivery made each show an easy and useful listening experience. My condolences to his family…Larry, you have earned your wings.

Larry had a powerful positive influence on me and my family, beginning in 1967. I was only 11 when he accompanied an older preacher in New Jersey who came to study the word of God with my parents. Soon they were put into Christ in response to the truth of the "message of the cross" (from I Corinthians 1:18), becoming disciples - Christians - in the sense of Acts 11:26. I did the same two years later, seeing for myself that one could study, understand, and obey the gospel of Christ directly from the Scriptures. As life moved on, I met Sharon's sister Nancy in 1978, and we married in 1979. Larry's work continued in South New Berlin, where the message is still taught and followed as the disciples meet and "worship in spirit and truth" (from John 4:23-24). May there be strength and comfort now for Mary and the rest of the family as Larry is remembered for his lifelong devotion to what Jesus prayed to the Father in the presence of the disciples, "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." (John 17:17)

We were blessed to have Larry as our Brother in-law. He was a Gentle Soul. Mary was blessed to have him for her husband. He was always smiling and thinking of others rather than himself. We are going to miss Larry but knowing he is in heaven and no longer suffering eases our loss.

Mr Bailey, was the kindest man. He just started his bus driving career with my siblings and would tell me all the stories I never got to see of them in my younger years. Always had a smile, but stern when he knew it was right. He’d sing to us during Christmas, and give us candy and cards. Would go out of his way on his route if he knew I was a couple minutes late so he could come back to get me. He was the reason hundreds and thousands of kids got education and got there safely. It’s your turn to rest easy now Mr Bailey. You did so good ❤️ condolences to the family. I know they lost a beautiful soul.

Mr. Bailey was my bus driver in Afton, and it is because of him I try to help out as much as possible wherever I can I’ve never known a man so selfless, and willing to help those less fortunate, even when I was a lonely dishwasher at Rosa’s pizzeria and he found out I worked there Every time he would go he would make sure even the dishwasher got a tip and you were always able to talk to him about the hard things in life. This man will be really missed.

The most gentle and polite bus driver ever. Knew my name by heart. Always said morning Brittany or hello Brittany. I always would help clean the bus if any trash was behind. (I was the last one off) and I would put the seat belts up on the back of the seats. I loved it. I loved him taking us to boces and around the holidays. He would hand out candy or candy canes. And a see you next year. Thank you for being a part of my childhood. Rest easy, Brittany.

Mr Bailey…. Where to even begin… You were my bus driver for many years. Always so kind hearted. You always made sure to hand out treats on the holidays, always had a smile on your face to greet anyone getting on your bus, and made sure the students had a safe trip to and from school. I remember being picked up for school and the roads were the absolute worst. Mr Bailey made a decision it was too unsafe to continue. He dropped the kids back off home (if they wanted) and returned to the school. Kids safety always came first. If the bus got crazy he would ask nicely to quiet down… there may have been a few times kids didn’t listen and our faces met the back of the seat in front of you. Haha! At that point you understood he was talking to you and the bus would become quiet. If not, he would always say “Keep talking, I get paid by the hour.” It has always been the little memories that have made me smile over the years. Sadly I have only ran into him a few times and he still continued to greet me with a smile on his face and a warm hug asking how I was doing. Mr Bailey was definitely one of a kind and will be sadly missed. Sending prayers to his friends and family suffering the loss of a wonderful man. May he rest in peace.

I met Larry in 1971, 17 years old, when he started preaching for the church where I attended. A few years later I married his brother, Jerry. Larry slowly became like a big brother to me. His knowledge, guidance, and love helped us through the years. His constant faith and love for God was evident, and through his teachings he baptized many people in to Christ. I've lost a brother, not just a friend. My prayers are for his family during this sad time.

Larry was one of the good ones. I knew him before I knew he was a bus driver. I met him where my mother in law worked in South New Berlin at Mirabitos. Then we'll I was working at Pizza Hut in sidney he and his wife and kids would come in to eat, especial on Buffet nights. Then I started working at Afton school and knew him as one of the best bus drivers. I missed him when he moved to Alabama. I'm prayers with his family but know he will always be by your side.

There are no words sufficient to describe what Larry has meant to us. He led us to Christ nearly 50 years ago and has been by our sides ever since as our teacher, preacher and beloved friend. We’ve shared the good times and the difficult times, and his faith and friendship never failed. Even in his last weeks he always greeted us asking, “Are you doing ok?” or, “How are my two favorite people?” To say we will miss him is a gross understatement, yet we rejoice that he has passed on to his eternal rest in Christ and look forward to the time when we can be with him again. Our deepest condolences go out to Mary, Kathryn, Daniel, Charles, Susan, Jerry and all of their family members. Carol and Dave Allen
