George had a sparkle in his eyes, the most contagious laugh and gave the best hugs. We used to see him riding his bike around Oquaga Creek State Park, little did we know he would become part of our family many years later. We love you George, rest easy. Love, Marna & Papa

Q: What will you never forget about George? A: My favorite memory of George was from a family Christmas at my grandparent’s house. He was five or six. I was sitting beside him at the kids table (mind you I was in my 20’s). He had filled his plate high and enjoyed every bite. When he finished, he licked that Chinet so clean it sparkled. I asked him what he was doing. He just winked at me and gave his huge smile. He held that empty plate up and asked all the adults at the grown up table when he could eat? Everyone came running because poor George hadn’t had anything to eat. He played all the adults. I laughed so hard at that one. I will miss his playful humor.

Only George, shows up in new bright white sneakers to the Afton Fair to go watch our friend race go-karts. Needless to say, not so white sneakers after that!

George was a great guy. Thoroughly enjoyed the few times we got to go camping and hang out. He made everyone feel welcome. My sincere condolences to the whole family.

My memories of George are from when he was about 8-10. I babysat for all of the kids for a bit. He was a good kid, he had a great heart and great spirit and definitely liked adventures. My thoughts and prayers are being to sent to every one of you! Hugs! Amy Jump White

To the Smith family, George worked for me at Quantico and was a fine Marine. He could always be counted on to complete the mission of whatever task he was assigned. I am deeply saddend by his death and his loss is mourned by many of his comrades. We stand with you in spirit and pray for comfort in this difficult time.

Q: What will you never forget about George? A: My favorite memory of George was at Quantico when we had a huge snowstorm and we were in charge of the snowplow trucks for the base. The snow had come in so quick and heavy it froze all the trucks. So, George looks up and says I signed to fight the bad guys now I'm outnumbered by snowflakes so he fakes like he's loading a magazine in his arm and looks straight up and screams HEEEEAT. George had that humor that made even the worst days at work enjoyable and memorable. I miss you Devil Dog. Till Valhalla

Q: What will you never forget about George? A: First I would like to say I am so sorry. I met Georgie when he was a young boy. He would always be smiling and always polite. He was always at Oquaga Creek racing his bike around the loops looking for his dad, He was always staying busy as a young boy would. As he grew older, he never forgot me, my great big hug and his beautiful smile. His family always came first. He was very proud of his daughter Maddy. He loved his wife deeply. He will be missed by many. My heart goes out to all of his family. May God wrap his arms around you all to help you heal.

RIP George and spread your wings to fly high! You will truly be missed. God Bless.

George is one of the best people I’ve had the privilege to know and to be part of my family. He was such a great partner to Rachel and an awesome dad to Maddy. He will be greatly missed by all!
