Lynn H. Teelon Bainbridge, NY Lynn H. Teelon, age 91, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the New York State Veterans' Home in Oxford. Lynn was born on November 10, 1922, son of Harry J. and Gertrude (Smith) Teelon in Norwich, NY. Following his graduation from Mt. Upton High School, Lynn worked for Bendix-Scintilla until he joined the Army Air Corp in February 1943. Lynn served as a B-17 Waist Gunner and Ball Turret Gunner as well as an airplane and engine mechanic and was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross for Meritorious Service over France and Germany as well as Air Medal with 3 Oak Leave Clusters. Lynn reached the rank of Staff Sergeant and received his Honorable Discharge in November of 1945. Lynn attended the Veterans Vocational School at Troy for Automobile Mechanics. Lynn owned and operated an excavating and construction company in Bainbridge, NY, and was also a long-time logger, farmer, and house builder. On December 29, 1951, Lynn was married to Thelma Fleming, who predeceased him on October 13, 1994. Lynn was later married to Melvina Epply on July 25, 2009. He is survived his wife Melvina (Shorty) Teelon; four daughters: Linda (Doug Yaehrling) Teelon, Sue (Jeff), Teelon, Deb (Steve) Siegert, and Betsy (David) Palmer; four grandchildren: Andy Siegert, Lauren Siegert, Travis Palmer, and Justine Palmer; sister, Helen Utter; and cousin, Charles Teelon as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Shorty's family who he loved as his own: children Debra (David) Harrington and Fred (Julie) Epply, Jr.; grandchildren: Donnie (Amanda) Harrington and Matt Epply; great-grandchildren: Taya and Mercedes Harrington; and beloved feline companion, Muffin. In addition to his parents, Lynn is also predeceased by brothers: Glenn and Arnold; and sisters: Minnie and Pauline. Lynn had a love for animals and gardening as well as bluegrass and old country music, especially his favorite song, "Faded Love". Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney. A memorial service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Delaware Valley Humane Society, PO Box 182, Sidney, NY 13838.
