David James Goulette

1953-2015

David James Goulette, loving son, brother and father, passed away unexpectedly on December 30, 2015 at his home in Buckeye, Arizona.

Dave was born the son of the late Melvin (Moose) and Betty Goulette on February 1, 1953 in Deposit. He graduated from Deposit Central School, class of 1970. While attending school, Dave was a member of the Varsity Wrestling Team.

Following graduation, Dave decided to enlist in the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country from 1972-1976. He served two terms over-seas and completed Basic Electrician Training, received an expert Marksman's Award, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1976 holding the rank of Sergeant. Dave was proud to have served his country and throughout his lifetime you would almost always see him proudly wearing his Marine Corps cap.

Following his discharge, Dave returned to his home town where his Mom and family were. He proceeded to obtain his Class 1 Drivers License and became a professional truck driver, which he made his career all of his life.

In the early 1980s, Dave decided to join his brothers in Arizona, where he lived for the majority of his life. He quickly found a good job hauling heavy equipment and settled in. That is where he started to acquire a passion for the racing industry. He and his brothers went to the races often. That is where he met and married Terrie Foster in 1991. Not only did he fall in love with Terrie, but he fell in love with her children and they loved him in return. Very soon after, they became a racing family. Dave, along with his sons, began building race cars and the whole family headed to Canyon Speedway, Manzanita Raceway and Barrona in California. These were the best years of his life. Dave raced for many years and he lived long enough to see his sons, Jay and John, grow up and build their own cars and race themselves while he watched with pride. Dave was also very proud of his son, Jacob, who is currently serving with the US Marine Corps, and his beautiful daughter, Tamara, who is an awesome mom and wife. One of Dave's proudest days was walking his little girl down the aisle as a proud Dad.

He was a family man who had a strong, loving relationship with his Mom, and his brothers and sisters also. Dave always found time to spend with everyone and will be missed by many people.

Surviving Dave are his children: James, Jacob, John, Tamara and Stacey; 10 grandchildren, and his siblings: Ann, Teresa, Phil, Joel, Sue and Mike and their families. Last but not least, his little rescue dog, Dude, who traveled with Dave and made him a great companion for many years. Dude is now living with family in NY where he continues to be loved and cared for.

Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 14, 2017 in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney, where he will be laid to rest along side of his parents, as was Dave's wishes.

Following the burial, Dave's children and brothers and sisters invite all of his friends and family to join them for a luncheon and Celebration of Dave's Life at the Sidney Fire Department Training Center, River St. Sidney, NY 13838. We are hoping to share our memories and rejoice in the life we all had with Dave. He will be missed by many.
