Bruce R. Francisco Sidney, NY Bruce R. Francisco, 74, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Wilson Regional Medical Center in Johnson City after a lengthy battle with COPD and emphysema. He was born on April 27, 1942, son of the late Lowell and Prudence (Preston) Francisco. He enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. On December 28, 1968, he was married to Nancy Boardman. Bruce lived life to the fullest. He worked as a special police officer for the Village of Sidney, drove truck for various companies and retired from NYSEG in early 1998 after many years working as a boiler operator. Later that year, Bruce began working at C.H. Landers Funeral Home. He was a valued member of the Landers family, logging thousands of miles on the road and countless hours assisting with services. His work ethic was second to none. Bruce had many hobbies. In his younger years, he loved hunting, fishing and trapping, riding motorcycle, golfing and bowling, rolling a perfect game in 1984. He was an avid sprint car racing fan and cheered for the NY Mets and Giants. He enjoyed trips to the casinos and playing Tuesday cards at the fire house. He was a past captain of the Sidney Fire Dept. Cartwright Hook & Ladder Company and was a long time member of Tri-County Kiwanis. Bruce also served two terms as a trustee for the Village of Sidney. Nancy predeceased him on June 15, 2014 after 45 years of marriage, which included 14 happy summers camping at Belvedere Lake. For the past two years, Bruce was lucky enough to find new happiness with his companion, Gail Hoffman of Guilford. Bruce was loved by so many, and his presence will be greatly missed. He is survived by: Daughter, Sue Ellen and John Heckman of Walkertown, NC Son, Randy Francisco of Sidney Grandchildren: Teo and Rachel Heckman, John Paul Heckman and Reilly Francisco Great-granddaughter, Alice Jean Heckman Brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Christine Francisco of Rochester Several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Bruce was predeceased by his brother, Neil Francisco and his beloved dog, Dusty. Friends are invited to call from 5:00-8:00pm on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 20th at the funeral chapel with Rev. Kenneth Southworth officiating. Burial will follow in East Guilford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bruce's memory may be directed to the Sidney Emergency Squad, 21 Liberty St. Sidney, NY 13838 or to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 E.
